Official – Agreement Reached in Principle as Newcastle Begin Formal Negotiations

Things appear to be moving along nicely with the club target’s deal following reports that Newcastle United had placed an official bid.

Earlier today, Fabrizio Romano broke the news that Newcastle United had put in an official bid for Spain winger Victor Munoz.

While Osasuna are yet to accept the offer, it’s now being reported that talks with Munoz are moving in the right direction in anticipation and player already agrees on the move.

The bid is believed to be over €30m, which is still €10m short of his release clause, leaving room for negotiation. However, that clause gives Newcastle the option to bypass negotiations if talks become difficult.

Victor Munoz happy with Newcastle’s terms

Meanwhile, Lee Ryder has posted on X that talks between Newcastle and Munoz are going well, with the winger happy with the terms on offer.

It was suspected beforehand that wages wouldn’t be an issue and Munoz was keen on the move, and Ryder’s update backs up those claims.

“Victor Munoz is understood to be happy with the salary on offer at #NUFC and impressed by the project.

“It’s all about Osasuna and their price and the bid now.

“Formal talks continuing with Spain and Munoz preparing for Monday’s World Cup clash with Cape Verde.”

No official proposal yet – Lee Ryder

In an accompanying article in The Chronicle, Ryder claims that no official proposal has been tabled and that the two clubs are still in discussions, but things are progressing well.

Newcastle will be hoping to wrap up the deal quickly before other clubs attempt to intervene.

It will also be worth watching Spain’s World Cup opener on Monday to see if the 22-year-old features, offering a glimpse of what Newcastle may be signing
