Everton have been linked with a move for Raúl Jiménez on a free transfer in recent days, but sources indicate that he does not fit the ideal profile for the Merseyside club due to his age.
Instead, Everton have bigger plans to add further quality in attack as they continue their efforts to strengthen the frontline following last summer’s recruitment drive.
Which strikers have Everton been linked with?
The striker position has continually caused problems for Everton in recent years, with Beto still struggling to find consistency in the Premier League.
The signing of Barry from Villarreal CF last summer has also failed to provide the desired solution, and as a result, the recruitment department are prepared to try again this summer.
Everton have been heavily linked with a move for Liam Delap in recent months, while more recent reports have connected them with Ayase Ueda.
Delap would be an expensive signing, with Chelsea FC hoping to recoup their £30million investment to sanction a sale, while Ueda has attracted plenty of interest after scoring 25 goals in the Eredivisie this season.
Jiménez would represent a far more cost-effective option if he leaves Fulham FC at the end of his contract, but Everton are targeting younger and more exciting options.
Everton line up fresh David Moyes contract talks
Football Insider revealed at the end of April that Everton are keen to open fresh contract talks with Moyes this summer.
The 63-year-old is due to enter the final year of his deal at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, but the club hierarchy have been hugely impressed with the work he has done since returning to the club.
Everton are keen to ensure that all parties remain aligned on the club’s long-term ambitions, with securing European football in the 2026–27 season viewed as a major objective.
Moyes’ expected new deal would also coincide with increased backing in the transfer market, as the owners aim to continue building on the progress made this season.
