adminLeicester City officially confirmed the mass exodus in a club statement detailing the departure of ten senior players upon the expiration of their deals this summer.
The club also noted that while veteran goalkeeper Asmir Begović’s contract is similarly ticking down, he “remains in discussions with us about the possibility of extending his stay at King Power Stadium.”
The statement posted on their official website read as below:
“We can confirm that 10 Men’s First Team players will depart Leicester City Football Club upon the expiration of their contracts this summer.
“Among those is captain Ricardo Pereira, who made 220 appearances for us across eight seasons since joining from Porto in his native Portugal in the summer of 2018.
“Alongside Ricardo, strikers Patson Daka and Jordan Ayew, defender Jamaal Lascelles and Academy graduate Wanya Marçal will also leave us at the end of the season following the expiration of their contracts.
however Bilal El Khannouss has officially left Leicester City on a permanent deal, VfB Stuttgart have confirmed.
The Morocco international joined the German club on loan from City last summer following relegation to the Championship. The deal included an obligation for the move to become permanent this summer.
Stuttgart confirmed the move in a statement on their official website. Sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth said:
> “In the season just ended, Bilal excelled across all competitions in a VfB shirt and has established himself at a young age as one of the lynchpins of the Moroccan national team.
> “Bilal already has exceptional footballing skills, but at the same time, we see further scope for development. As such, we’re convinced that he’s not yet reached his full potential.”
Reports in Germany claim Stuttgart will pay a fee of €17 million (£14.6m) on top of the €3 million (£2.6m) loan fee already paid to Leicester City.
The money will be a welcome boost as Leicester prepare for life in League One. El Khannouss is expected to be the first of several sales over the next few weeks and months following relegation.
El Khannouss was a key player for Stuttgart last season, scoring eight goals and providing six assists in 33 appearances across all competitions.
He spent just one season with Leicester City, scoring three goals and providing six assists in 36 appearances during the 2024/25 campaign.
While the 22-year-old is the first confirmed sale, Leicester City also confirmed the exits of 10 players at the end of their contracts over the weekend.
