Newcastle United are reportedly stepping up their pursuit of Feyenoord winger Anis Hadj Moussa, with the Algerian international emerging as one of Matthias Jaissle’s priority transfer targets ahead of the new Premier League season. Sunderland are also understood to have made an enquiry for the 23-year-old, but Newcastle appear to be leading the race for his signature.
Hadj Moussa has enjoyed a rapid rise since joining Feyenoord in 2024. The exciting winger has established himself as one of the Eredivisie’s most dangerous attacking players, registering 25 goals and 12 assists in 83 appearances for the Dutch giants. Last season alone, he contributed 14 goals and seven assists across all competitions, attracting interest from several clubs across Europe.

His impressive displays have inevitably caught the attention of Premier League sides, with Newcastle believed to be among his strongest admirers. Feyenoord are reportedly open to selling the winger this summer if their valuation, believed to be around €37 million, is met.
Earlier this summer, Hadj Moussa’s agent, Mohamed Dahman, hinted that his client was preparing for a new challenge.
«”Anis Hadj Moussa will play for another team, God willing,” Dahman said on July 3, fuelling speculation over the player’s future.»
Sunderland reportedly made an approach for the Algerian international last month, but that move has yet to progress into a formal agreement. Newcastle’s growing interest could now put them firmly in pole position.
Reports suggest Newcastle are expected to appoint Matthias Jaissle as their new head coach, and the German tactician is understood to be a long-time admirer of Hadj Moussa. During his spell at Al-Ahli, Jaissle reportedly identified the winger as a priority signing and unsuccessfully attempted to bring him to Saudi Arabia.
According to journalist Dennis Kranenburg, Newcastle’s interest is genuine and closely linked to Jaissle’s admiration for the player.
“Their prospective new coach previously tried to sign him for Al-Ahli, which shows how highly he rates Hadj Moussa. If the right offer arrives, it will be difficult for Feyenoord to keep him,” Kranenburg reportedly said.
Fennec Football also claims Jaissle remains determined to work with the Algerian winger and could make him one of his first signings if his expected move to St James’ Park is completed.
The 38-year-old reportedly believes Hadj Moussa possesses the pace, creativity and direct attacking style needed to thrive in the Premier League. The player is also believed to be keen on testing himself in England, while Feyenoord are looking to secure the best possible fee before sanctioning a sale.
Discussions regarding a potential transfer are said to be ongoing, although no official bid has yet been confirmed. Newcastle remain one of the clubs most strongly linked with the winger, and should negotiations continue positively, a formal offer could follow in the coming days.
With Hadj Moussa eager to make the step up to the Premier League, Feyenoord willing to listen to suitable offers, and Jaissle reportedly pushing for the deal, Newcastle could soon intensify their efforts to secure one of the Eredivisie’s most exciting attacking talents.
