Rather than pushing for promotion, they find themselves drifting dangerously close to the lower end of the table sitting 22nd on the standing. This disconnect between financial power and performance has become a major concern.
Fan frustration is growing, with criticism aimed at both players and club leadership fingers pointed at the management after what many see as mismanagement and lack of clear direction.
Much of the scrutiny has fallen on Director of Football Jon Rudkin. Recruitment decisions in recent seasons are being questioned, with significant funds spent on players who have not delivered consistent results.
Poor squad planning and costly contracts have left the team unbalanced and lacking identity.
Financially, the numbers are alarming. Data reported by BBC Sport shows Leicester have recorded losses of £305.7 million over the past five years—the highest among recent Championship clubs.
Even more concerning, they have spent £116 million more than any other team in the division since their relegations from the top flight. Despite this, performances on the pitch have failed to reflect such heavy investment.
The possibility of relegation to League One is now a serious threat. Such a fall would not only damage the club’s reputation but also worsen its financial situation.
Leicester City now stand at a critical point. Without immediate improvement on and off the pitch, their decline could accelerate, turning a difficult period into a long-term crisis.
