Abdulhafiz TeslimFabrizio Romano has delivered good news for Newcastle United fans by confirming another major transfer with his trademark “Here we go!”
The Italian transfer expert has announced that a deal has been agreed for former Newcastle United goalkeeper Martin Dúbravka, who is set to join Tottenham Hotspur on a free transfer after leaving Burnley following their relegation from the Premier League.
Dúbravka spent the 2025/26 season at Burnley after ending his seven-year spell at Newcastle United, where he made 179 appearances following his arrival under Rafa Benítez in 2018. The experienced Slovakian quickly established himself as the Magpies’ first-choice goalkeeper and remained a fan favourite throughout his time at St James’ Park.
Following the arrival of Nick Pope after Newcastle’s Saudi-backed takeover, Dúbravka found first-team opportunities increasingly limited, featuring mainly in domestic cup competitions. Nevertheless, he played a vital role during Newcastle’s memorable Carabao Cup campaign, producing standout performances in both semi-final victories over Arsenal as the club ended its long wait for domestic silverware.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham have now completed a deal to sign the veteran goalkeeper, who will provide experienced cover behind highly-rated Czech goalkeeper Antonín Kinský, with Guglielmo Vicario expected to leave the North London club this summer.
Romano wrote on X:
> “Martin Dúbravka to Tottenham, here we go! Deal agreed for former Burnley and Manchester United goalkeeper to join THFC. Move completed today with Dúbravka set to be backup GK at Spurs behind Kinský. Guglielmo Vicario to leave this summer.”
Meanwhile, Tottenham’s interest in Newcastle may not stop there. Reports suggest Spurs remain keen on Sandro Tonali, having reportedly seen an offer of around £75 million rejected earlier this summer. Newcastle are believed to value the Italian midfielder at closer to £100 million, while Arsenal and Manchester City have also been linked with the former AC Milan star. However, no agreement has been reached and Tonali remains an important part of Eddie Howe’s plans.
