Leicester City Potential New Manager Reportedly Spotted at the King Power Stadium During Their Latest Championship Home Game

Leicester City could be heading into another managerial change, with speculation growing that Gary Rowett’s future is already all but over following the recent run of results, including the latest draw against Millwall.

There is a strong belief that Rowett’s short-term spell is nearing its end, with discussions already ongoing about a possible replacement. The expectation around the club is that Leicester want to move quickly this time and avoid another unstable appointment.

Rowett was initially brought in as a “firefighter” following a difficult period, including a six-point deduction and inconsistent performances under previous management. While there were small improvements in results, pressure has remained high due to expectations and the overall direction of the club.

Now attention has turned to potential long-term candidates, with several familiar names resurfacing on the shortlist.

One of the leading names is Will Still, who was previously dismissed by Southampton after a poor run of form, despite being regarded as one of the most promising young managers in football. Interestingly, after his departure, his assistant Tonda Eckert stepped in and the team’s performances reportedly improved, pushing them into playoff contention.

Another name being considered is Chris Davies, who previously guided Birmingham City to promotion. However, his position is currently under pressure, and there are suggestions that Birmingham’s ownership could look elsewhere for a more experienced promotion specialist.

Russell Martin has also been linked, but there are concerns within sections of the fanbase about his heavy possession-based style, which has drawn criticism following difficult spells at Southampton and Rangers.

Brian Barry-Murphy, who previously worked at Leicester and has since impressed at Cardiff City, is also mentioned, although a return appears unlikely at this stage.

Other lower-league options include Dave Challinor and Alex Revell, both of whom have done solid work in League One, alongside Lincoln boss Michael Skubala. However, questions remain over whether they have enough top-level experience for a club of Leicester’s size and expectations.

Experienced names such as Nigel Pearson and Roy Hodgson have also been discussed in football circles. While both bring strong CVs, there are doubts internally about whether a return to older-style management fits the club’s long-term direction.

Kevin Muscat, Liam Rosenior, and Patrick Kisnorbo have also been mentioned as outside contenders, with Muscat currently managing abroad and building a strong reputation.

At this stage, Will Still appears to be the most strongly linked option according to internal discussions, with Chris Davies also remaining in the conversation as a serious candidate.
