🚨 Leeds United Dealt Huge Blow As Key Star Suffers Crushing Setback After Outstanding Season

With the season almost over for Leeds United players, many of them can now switch their attention to international duty. A few players are in line to feature prominently for their national teams this summer.

Ao Tanaka was named in Japan’s squad after impressing towards the end of the season. The midfielder has been one of Leeds United’s standout performers since the start of the year.

Gabriel Gudmundsson has also been called up by Sweden. The left-back picked up an injury a few weeks ago and has missed the last few games as a precaution.

Noah Okafor was included in Switzerland’s squad as well, with the winger enjoying an impressive campaign for Leeds. He only recently returned to the national team setup after resolving issues with the coaching staff.

Leeds United star dealt huge blow after Germany announcement

Some players will still be waiting to discover whether they have made their national team squads in the coming weeks. The United States are one of the hosts of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, and Brenden Aaronson is hoping to secure a place in the final squad.

The attacking midfielder enjoyed a decent season and played an important role during Leeds’ excellent run between December and January.

Unfortunately for Anton Stach, he will not be part of Germany’s latest squad. Julian Nagelsmann named his final selection, with the former Hoffenheim midfielder missing out.

Stach’s omission comes after another setback, as journalist Graham Smyth confirmed that the 27-year-old is expected to be sidelined for two to three weeks. As a result, he will miss the final game of the season against Brighton.

Anton Stach has been fantastic this season

The midfielder initially arrived at the club as a more defensive-minded player, but Daniel Farke successfully transformed him into a dynamic box-to-box midfielder. His performances this season were a major reason behind his return to the Germany setup.

Stach’s work rate in midfield, combined with his ability to carry the ball forward, has been crucial to Farke’s tactical approach.

The 49ers made an excellent decision to bring him to the club last summer. Leeds beat several clubs to his signature, and the move has worked out brilliantly. This summer, the club must ensure they recruit players of a similar quality.
