Three Newcastle United transfers were officially confirmed

Newcastle United have confirmed that goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos has rejoined Sevilla on a season-long loan for the 2026/27 campaign.

The Greek international spent last season on loan with the Spanish side, making 34 appearances in all competitions. After a successful spell, he expressed his desire to return to Sevilla for another season.

Vlachodimos follows Anthony Gordon, who completed a £70 million move from Newcastle United to Barcelona. The transfer became official on July 1, when Gordon’s contract with the Catalan club began.

July 1 also marked the departure of Emil Krafth, Matt Targett, John Ruddy, and Max Thompson, whose contracts expired at the club. Kieran Trippier’s deal also came to an end, and he officially joined Wolverhampton Wanderers on a free transfer.

Those departures mean Newcastle have already confirmed multiple first-team exits this summer, with more expected. Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimarães continue to attract strong interest from other Premier League clubs, leaving their futures at St James’ Park uncertain.

So far, Newcastle have made just one signing this summer, bringing in 20-year-old goalkeeper Ewen Jaouen from Ligue 2 side Stade de Reims.

With Jaouen’s arrival, Newcastle have now confirmed the departure of three goalkeepers, while Nick Pope’s future also remains uncertain amid reported interest from Ipswich Town and other Premier League clubs.

Although Vlachodimos remains under contract with Newcastle until 2028, he is not part of Eddie Howe’s first-team plans.
