“OFFICIAL” 🚨 Newcastle United Beat Rivals to Complete the Signing of Arsenal Winger in Stunning Deal

Arsenal are closing in on an £80 million deal to sign Newcastle United captain Bruno Guimarães, while the club navigates a summer of massive squad restructuring under impending manager Matthias Jaissle following Eddie Howe’s resignation.

Newcastle has already raised roughly £190 million through high-profile player trading, primarily reinvesting the capital into highly-rated, youth-focused talent.

Thompson attracted interest from several Premier League clubs, including Arsenal’s rivals Tottenham Hotspur, but has now committed his future to Newcastle.

Last month, Thompson fuelled transfer speculation when he posted an image on Instagram of himself walking into Newcastle International Airport.

The England Under-17 international scored three goals in 26 appearances for Arsenal in the Under-18s Premier League last season. One of his standout moments came in the UEFA Youth League, where he recorded a goal and an assist in a 4-2 victory over Bayern Munich.

Newcastle had previously attempted to sign Thompson in 2024, but the winger chose Arsenal after leaving West Ham United’s academy. Two years later, the Magpies have finally secured his signature.

Thompson cannot sign a professional contract until he turns 17 in early September, but he is eligible to represent Newcastle as a scholar before then.

He will join Chris Moore’s Newcastle Under-18s squad for the 2026/27 season and has confirmed his arrival on social media.

Alongside an Instagram video of himself signing for the club and posing with a Newcastle United shirt, Thompson wrote:

> “Grateful to sign for @nufc, ready to get to work.”

His agency, Truth Sports, also welcomed the move with a statement:

> “Massive congratulations to @kyran_thompson on a successful move from Arsenal to Newcastle United. A new chapter, a new challenge, and a huge opportunity ahead.

> “Wishing you nothing but success in the Toon. Proud of the journey so far — now it’s time to shine even brighter.”

The academy signing comes as Newcastle and Arsenal remain in talks over the potential transfer of Bruno Guimarães. The Magpies captain has arrived at La Manga for pre-season training after Newcastle rejected an initial bid from Arsenal, with the Gunners expected to return with an improved offer.

Guimarães has already stated his desire to leave Newcastle after four-and-a-half years and join the Premier League champions.
