According to Italian outlet Quotidiano Sportivo, Fiorentina midfielder Nicolo Fagioli has emerged as one of Newcastle’s leading targets. The 25-year-old joined Fiorentina from Juventus in 2025 and is not expected to leave this summer, although a bid of around €40 million (£34 million) could convince the Serie A side to consider a sale.
Fagioli is well known in Italian football and has represented the Italy national team. He was also involved in the same betting scandal that saw Tonali receive a 10-month suspension.
Inter Milan midfielder Davide Frattesi has also been linked with Newcastle once again after previously attracting interest from the Magpies in earlier transfer windows.
Meanwhile, Newcastle continue to monitor highly rated youngster Johan Manzambi. The 20-year-old has impressed with his performances at the FIFA World Cup, but interest from other clubs is growing, raising concerns that Newcastle could face strong competition for his signature.
