So far, Leicester have played around 43 matches, recording roughly 11 wins, 14 draws, and 18 defeats. They’ve scored 54 goals and conceded 65. After a six-point deduction linked to financial issues, they remain stuck in the lower reaches of the table, still a few points from safety with only a handful of games left.
A damaging defeat to Portsmouth pushed tensions over the edge. By full-time, frustration among supporters had boiled over.
Jon Rudkin, who has long been a central figure in the club’s hierarchy and was handed an even larger role in the March 2026 leadership reshuffle, had previously spoken about the club’s direction:

“Stop the speeches! We’re going down and you’re still talking nonsense!”
“Boo! Get out of our club! You’ve ruined everything — you’re WORSE than the players!”
At one point, the anger in the stands became impossible to ignore:
“Boo! Leave the club immediately, you are as bad as the players!”
Rudkin has faced growing criticism from both fans and the media for some time. His expanded influence within the club, confirmed in March 2026, has only intensified scrutiny.
Much of the frustration centres on recruitment decisions, high wage commitments, and what supporters see as poor long-term planning. Many believe Leicester drifted away from the efficient, data-driven model that once brought them success, replacing it with costly and unsustainable choices.
Those decisions are also seen as contributing to the club’s current financial difficulties, including the points deduction and an imbalanced squad.
Despite this, Rudkin has remained in his position, with even greater responsibility, a situation that has further fuelled anger among supporters.
One fan captured the mood simply:
“You can’t run a club into the ground and then lecture us.”
Leicester’s decline has been gradual but steady. From one of England’s best-run clubs, they have slipped into a side now battling to stay in the Championship.
