According to the latest reports, Bundesliga champions Bayern have asked about the availability of the young centre-back after head coach Vincent Kompany identified him as a player whose profile fits the club’s long-term defensive plans. However, despite the interest from Germany, Newcastle have made their stance crystal clear: the defender is not for sale this summer.
The Magpies view the defender as an important part of their future and have no intention of weakening their squad ahead of another demanding campaign. Club officials believe defensive stability is crucial if Newcastle are to compete strongly in both domestic and European competitions, making it highly unlikely they will entertain offers unless an extraordinary bid arrives.
Vincent Kompany is believed to admire the player’s physical presence, composure on the ball and ability to play in a high defensive line. Newcastle’s coaching staff are understood to be pleased with his development, while Howe has previously spoken positively about his qualities and believes he can continue improving in the Premier League.
