Bajraktarevic is among the players Everton are monitoring during the tournament, with scouts keeping a close eye on potential reinforcements. However, conducting transfer negotiations can be more complicated while players are away on international duty, meaning clubs are often forced to wait before making decisive moves.
Everton Should Reconsider Their Interest
Reports suggested Everton submitted an offer for Bajraktarevic before the transfer window officially opened, although there has been little indication of any significant progress since then.
PSV may also be keen to assess how the 21-year-old performs on the international stage before making any decisions regarding his future, particularly if a strong World Cup campaign increases his market value.
The right-wing position could become a key area of focus for Everton this summer, especially with uncertainty continuing to surround the future of Iliman Ndiaye.
While Everton have clearly done extensive scouting on Bajraktarevic, those watching Bosnia and Herzegovina’s draw with Canada may have been left underwhelmed by his latest performance.
The winger played 74 minutes but completed just seven of his 15 attempted passes and failed to create a single shooting opportunity for either himself or a teammate.
His struggles were further reflected by a dribble success rate of only 20 per cent, highlighting a difficult evening for the young attacker.
Of course, one performance should not define a player, but it was hardly the type of display that would strengthen Everton’s resolve to pursue a deal.
Alternative Targets Already on Everton’s Radar
Fortunately for the Blues, Bajraktarevic is far from the only right-wing option being considered.
One player Everton have been linked with is Othmane Maamma, who impressed throughout the Championship campaign despite Watford’s inconsistent season.
Another name credited with attracting Everton’s interest is Assane Diao, with the Como star reportedly valued at around £40 million.
Everton therefore have no shortage of alternatives as they look to strengthen their attacking options this summer. While Bajraktarevic remains a talented prospect with plenty of room for development, his display against Canada is unlikely to have enhanced his chances of becoming Everton’s next signing.
