JUST IN: Newcastle United have already found Sandro Tonali replacement after securing long-term deal…

Newcastle United may have already identified Sandro Tonali’s long-term successor following his departure.

It appears that Newcastle United have found the ideal replacement for Tonali from within their own ranks.

Lewis Miley’s breakthrough into the first team came at the age of 17, largely due to Tonali’s 10-month suspension for betting offences and a series of injuries within the squad. From the moment he made his debut, Miley demonstrated a level of maturity far beyond his years.

His quality and composure have been evident throughout his development, with the midfielder, now just 20 years old, already making 80 appearances for the Magpies despite not always being a regular starter.

Over the past two seasons, if asked to name Newcastle’s strongest midfield trio, many supporters would have pointed to Bruno Guimaraes, Joelinton, and Tonali. Even last season, opportunities in midfield were limited for Miley, and he was often required to fill in at right-back. Although he was operating out of position, he performed admirably.

Miley’s versatility highlights his exceptional football intelligence, which is just one of the many qualities that make him such a remarkable talent.

The reality is that Miley has largely been used as a squad player. However, with Tonali’s departure, the opportunity has now arrived for him to step up and establish himself as a key figure alongside Guimaraes in the heart of Newcastle’s midfield.

“He can be anything he wants to be,” Newcastle United head coach Eddie Howe said last year. “He could establish himself in a position and excel for us over many years.

“He has all the technical attributes and, most importantly, the mental qualities. He has already shown that. He has played in huge games, yet he approaches them with the same calmness that he shows in training, which is a huge compliment.

“He has a bit of everything. He possesses the stamina and endurance needed to perform effectively in those roles. He remains composed in training and is one of our most technically gifted players.

“He has a very bright future ahead of him, but he will face the same challenges that all young players encounter. It is important that he stays humble, remains focused, listens to his coaches, absorbs the wealth of knowledge available to him, and continues to develop at the right pace.”

If Miley intends to establish himself as Newcastle’s long-term number six, now is the perfect time to do so.
