Newcastle United have reportedly reached an agreement with Turkish giants Besiktas over the transfer of Joe Willock, with the midfielder now seemingly on the verge of leaving St James’ Park.
According to the latest information provided, the two clubs have agreed a fee worth €20 million, while Willock is set to sign a four-year contract with Besiktas. The player’s medical has reportedly been booked, with both sides now working to finalise the remaining details of the transfer.
The development would bring an end to a transfer saga that has been developing for several weeks. Besiktas have been pursuing Willock throughout the summer, while Newcastle have been determined to secure an acceptable fee before allowing the midfielder to leave.

Recent reports had suggested that the Turkish club initially submitted an offer worth around €12 million, including add-ons, while Newcastle were holding out for a figure closer to €20 million.
The reported breakthrough therefore represents a significant change in negotiations.
Willock’s future at Newcastle had already become increasingly uncertain. The midfielder entered the final year of his contract and was facing greater competition for places following Newcastle’s recent midfield additions. Reports also indicated that the club were prepared to consider his departure rather than risk losing him for nothing when his contract expires.
The 27-year-old has been with Newcastle since joining permanently from Arsenal in 2021 after initially enjoying a hugely impressive loan spell on Tyneside. During that loan period, he scored in seven consecutive Premier League matches, making himself an instant favourite among supporters.
His permanent spell at Newcastle has produced a mixture of memorable performances and frustrating periods, with injuries and competition for places affecting his consistency. Nevertheless, Willock has remained an important squad player and has made more than 120 Premier League appearances for the Magpies.
A move to Besiktas would now give the midfielder the opportunity to begin a new chapter in Turkey.
For Newcastle, meanwhile, the deal would provide another significant piece of transfer business during a summer of major changes. The club have already been reshaping their squad and making decisions over several established players, with manager Matthias Jaissle continuing to assess his options ahead of the remainder of the season.
Willock’s departure would also create additional room within the squad and potentially free up funds for further recruitment before the transfer window closes.
The immediate focus, however, will be on completing the final formalities.
With the medical reportedly booked and the two clubs said to be finalising the remaining details, Newcastle supporters could soon receive confirmation that the midfielder’s time on Tyneside is officially over.
If everything proceeds as expected, Willock will leave Newcastle for Besiktas in a deal worth €20 million, signing a four-year contract with the Turkish side.
For a transfer that appeared difficult to complete only days ago, the reported agreement could now be the final step in one of Newcastle’s most closely watched exits of the summer.
