Newcastle have also agreed a £70million deal this summer to see Anthony Gordon move to Barcelona. The club tried and failed to sign Victor Muñoz from Osasuna as a replacement, with the Spanish winger instead joining Liverpool.
Now, United have moved to sign Ivory Coast winger Touré in a deal worth around £43million. Touré operates predominantly on the left wing and scored five goals in 30 Bundesliga appearances for Hoffenheim last season.
According to transfer influencer Fabrizio Romano, Touré is set to sign a “long-term deal” at Newcastle this week.
Romano tweeted: “Newcastle agree €50m package deal to sign Ivorian winger Bazoumana Touré, here we go! Agreement sealed with player’s agents and Hoffenheim after official bid submitted today, as @TeleFootball reports. Touré will sign a long term deal at #NUFC this week.”
The Gazette understand that the money brought in from the sales of Gordon and Tonali will enable Newcastle to strengthen in multiple positions this summer, following a 12th-place finish in the Premier League.
Newcastle captain Bruno Guimarães is also facing an uncertain future at the club amid transfer interest from Arsenal.
The club’s only confirmed signing so far this summer is 20-year-old goalkeeper Ewen Jaouen from Ligue 2 side Stade de Reims.
