EXCLUSIVE – Agent of Bruno Guimarães Meets Liverpool Officials as Transfer Speculation Grows

The Reds are expected to strengthen their midfield during the transfer window, and journalist Ben Jacobs has claimed that an early inquiry has been made to assess Guimaraes’ willingness to make the move.

Newcastle United have already lost Anthony Gordon to Barcelona this summer, while uncertainty also surrounds the futures of Bruno Guimaraes, Sandro Tonali and Lewis Hall.

After finishing 12th in the Premier League last season, the Magpies risk seeing more key players leave despite building an impressive squad over recent years.

According to Jacobs, Liverpool have made contact with Guimaraes’ agent, although Arsenal’s interest in the Brazil international is believed to be further advanced at this stage.

Speaking to The Redmen TV, Jacobs suggested Guimaraes, now 28, may be considered older than Liverpool’s preferred recruitment profile, with the club potentially favouring a younger midfielder instead.

Even so, Liverpool’s inquiry highlights the club’s intention to add energy and quality to its midfield after a season in which the engine room often looked short of intensity.

Alexis Mac Allister and Curtis Jones have both been linked with possible moves away from Anfield during the off-season.

Elsewhere, Liverpool have identified Ivory Coast winger Yan Diomande as their preferred replacement for Mohamed Salah following the Egyptian’s departure at the end of the season.

Diomande has impressed at the World Cup, recording his first goal contribution of the tournament by assisting Nicolas Pepe’s opener in Ivory Coast’s 2-0 victory over Curacao.

The 19-year-old started all three group-stage matches as the three-time AFCON champions finished second in Group E to qualify for the last 32.

RB Leipzig continue to publicly insist that Diomande is not for sale. However, the Daily Mail reports there is internal acceptance at the Bundesliga club that the youngster could be sold before the start of the 2026-27 season.

Liverpool are said to be leading the race for the highly rated winger, although Paris Saint-Germain are also interested.

Diomande scored 13 goals and provided 10 assists in all competitions for Leipzig last season after joining the German club from Leganes in 2025.
