JUST IN – Jamie Vardy Raises Questions About His Future After Unexpected Statement

Beginning his career with Stocksbridge Park Steels, for whom he played for four years, few could have seen him going on to achieve the success he did with Leicester City.

But in a story that few of the world’s great script writers could have put together, Vardy joined Leicester in 2012 after scoring 31 goals in 36 Conference Premier matches with Fleetwood Town.

The rest, as they say, is history, two seasons in the Championship, the great escape and then the most unlikely Premier League title winner of all time.

In that 5000/1 triumph a decade ago, Vardy scored 24 Premier League goals and he would go on to bag double digits in the next six seasons after it too.

Leicester in that time would also win an FA Cup and a Community Shield, a far cry from the side who have just suffered consecutive relegations.

Now plying his trade with Serie A strugglers Cremonese, Vardy has insisted he wants to keep playing until he can’t any longer.

And, although he did not reach the EFL until 25, he is now 39 and the time for him to hang up his boots is surely not a million miles away.

So, what could life look like beyond playing football for Vardy?


Well, if fans harboured dreams of him going on to create his own dream story in the dugout, they would be mistaken.

Speaking to the Guardian ahead of his new documentary being released on Netflix, Vardy when asked about a future in management said: “Management, no.

“They’re at the training ground even longer than the players. I can’t.

“I’ve not really thought that far down the line.

“I’m very much: ‘get today out the way, go to sleep and see what tomorrow brings’ and I’ve always been like that, which is annoying to some, I know.”

Cremonese are on the brink of relegation to Serie B and Vardy’s contract will expire at the end of June.

There is an option for him to stay a further year, does Vardy fancy one last hurrah to get Cremonese back into Serie A? Only time will tell.
