Ben Chilwell Exposes Jamie Vardy’s CRAZY Pre-Match Ritual During Their Time At The King Power Stadium

Jamie Vardy has long established himself as one of the most unique figures in the history of English football, but a recent revelation from a former teammate has shown just how unconventional his lifestyle really is.

Ben Chilwell, now a defender at Strasbourg, recently recounted how the striker’s habits made things difficult when they played together at the King Power Stadium.

This account paints a picture of a player who cared little for the traditional philosophy of ‘marginal gains’, so prevalent in the modern era.

Whilst many top-level professional players are obsessed with sleep cycles, hydration and elaborate diets, Vardy seems to thrive on a mix of sugary energy drinks and late nights.

Nevertheless, his results speak for themselves: at 38, he was still scoring over 30 goals a season, proving that his body could withstand a workload that might have broken other professional players.

Vardy’s stamina is perhaps what stands out most. Whilst many players who have led a ‘rock and roll’ career burn out in their early thirties, the Foxes’ icon remains remarkably resilient and relatively injury-free.

His ability to string together powerful sprints and precise finishes, despite his admitted penchant for cigarettes and caffeine, continues to astonish spectators and his ageing teammates.

For Vardy, this habit serves as mental fuel, essential for maintaining his aggressive and tenacious style of play on the pitch.

Chilwell, who rose through the ranks at Leicester before moving to Chelsea and eventually France, recently spoke to L’Équipe about the most memorable rituals he has witnessed throughout his career. Inevitably, the conversation turned to Vardy.

The full-back revealed that the amount of caffeine consumed by the striker reaches extraordinary levels in the final minutes before kick-off, often in defiance of the strict nutritional protocols followed by other teams.

The extraordinary number of energy drinks he consumes in such a short time remains incredible to those who have played alongside him.

When Chilwell spoke of his most memorable pre-match ritual, he said: “My most memorable pre-match routine? It’s got to be Jamie Vardy! It’s not something I’d recommend! He drinks four tins of Red Bull in an hour.

The night before a match, he drinks wine or beer at the hotel. He doesn’t really sleep. Once, he came knocking on my door at around 3am to wake me up. He’s mad. But he still managed to score a hat-trick after all that.”
