Manchester United could be preparing a stunning player-plus-cash proposal to Newcastle United as they look to secure one of their most wanted defensive targets before the summer transfer window closes.
The Red Devils are understood to be exploring ways to strengthen at left-back, and one Premier League defender has emerged as a particularly attractive option. Rather than simply submitting a huge cash offer, United could reportedly attempt to use one of their highly rated young players as part of a package worth around £30 million plus Harry Amass.

The proposal would certainly get Newcastle’s attention.
The defender in question has developed into an important member of the Newcastle squad and is regarded as one of the most promising young full-backs in English football. His combination of defensive ability, athleticism and technical quality has made him an appealing option for Manchester United as they look to build a younger and more competitive squad.
United’s interest is believed to be driven by the need for greater quality and depth on the left side of their defence. The club want a player capable of competing immediately while also having the potential to become a long-term first-team regular.
That is where Lewis Hall comes into the picture.
The 21-year-old has continued to attract attention following his development at Newcastle, with his performances increasingly demonstrating why he is considered one of the country’s most exciting young defenders.
However, convincing Newcastle to sell will be extremely difficult.
The Magpies have little reason to make Hall available, particularly given his age and importance to their squad. Newcastle would therefore have to be presented with a proposal that gives them a compelling reason to reconsider their position.
Including Harry Amass could potentially do exactly that.
Amass is regarded as one of Manchester United’s brightest defensive prospects. The young left-back has already gained first-team experience and has been closely watched by the club’s coaching staff as he continues his development.
From Newcastle’s perspective, acquiring Amass would provide them with another young defensive option who could potentially develop into a first-team player. Combined with a £30m cash payment, the package could offer the Magpies both immediate financial value and a long-term replacement.
For Manchester United, meanwhile, the deal would allow them to secure a player who already understands the demands of Premier League football.
Hall’s versatility is another major attraction. He can operate as a traditional left-back but also possesses the technical qualities to contribute further forward. His ability to progress the ball and support attacks fits the modern full-back profile United are looking for.
The potential deal would therefore benefit both sides if Newcastle were willing to entertain negotiations.
There is, however, an important distinction between a possible transfer strategy and an actual agreement. There is currently no confirmed deal between Manchester United and Newcastle for Hall, meaning the £30m-plus-Amass proposal should be viewed as a potential route rather than a completed offer.
Still, if United decide to push aggressively, this could become one of the more intriguing transfer negotiations of the summer.
A package involving Harry Amass and £30 million could give Newcastle a difficult decision to make — and potentially open the door for Hall to make the move to Old Trafford.
The big question now is whether Newcastle would finally be willing to listen.
