🚨 Leeds United Plot Ambitious Move For Ligue 1 Midfield Star As £13m Opportunity Emerges

Leeds United confirmed their Premier League safety over a week ago, and the club can now turn its attention towards next season. A key part of that preparation will be the summer transfer window.

The club’s owners made a mistake a few years ago when Marcelo Bielsa was not properly backed following a successful 2020 season. The Whites returned to the top flight and finished in the top half of the table, but the lack of investment eventually hurt the squad.

Recruitment last summer played a huge role in the club surviving in the league this season. The 49ers managed to bring in solid first-team starters such as Jaka Bijol, Gabriel Gudmundsson, and Anton Stach.

Leeds United eye move for star midfielder

A few weeks ago, club sources confirmed that Leeds United were drawing up a shortlist of potential targets. The team must add more quality to the squad if they hope to stay up next season.

Leeds have recently been linked with Tanner Tessmann. The 24-year-old Lyon midfielder has impressed in Ligue 1 this season and has attracted interest from several clubs in England, including the Whites.

Many expect Tessmann to leave the French side this summer. French outlet Le Progrès reports that Lyon value the midfielder at around £13 million ahead of the transfer window.

The report adds that if Leeds can meet the asking price and agree personal terms with the player, a deal is very possible. Lyon are reportedly unwilling to “stand in the way” of the 24-year-old if a suitable offer arrives.

Tessmann is coming off the back of an impressive season and could become a strong option for the United States’ World Cup squad. If he makes the tournament and performs well, his value could rise significantly.

If the 49ers want to sign him for a reasonable fee, they may need to move quickly before competition increases. As seen during last summer’s transfer window, £13 million is a fee Leeds can afford.

Their recruitment strategy has focused on signing quality players from top leagues at reasonable prices. Tessmann fits that profile perfectly and would be a very strong addition to the first team.
