The reaction from Leicester City supporters toward Jon Rudkin and Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha was immediate and intense. Inside the stadium following the 2–2 draw with Hull City, sections of fans directed chants at the club’s hierarchy, with frustration boiling over after months of poor results.
“Sack the board” chants were heard, while others openly questioned the leadership’s decisions on recruitment, squad management, and the overall direction of the club.
Many supporters felt the relegation was not just about performances on the pitch, but the result of long-term issues off it.
On social media, the backlash continued, with both Rudkin and Khun Top heavily criticised by fans who believe the club has been mismanaged in recent years.
Some supporters accused the leadership of failing to act quickly enough during the season, while others pointed to poor planning and a lack of urgency as key reasons behind the collapse.
Although a smaller section of fans defended Khun Top, acknowledging his emotional connection to the club, the overall mood remained one of anger and disappointment, with many calling for major changes at board level following the drop to League One.
Earlier, Rudkin had stated: “Restoring Leicester City to the level we all believe it should represent is a club-wide priority. We are clear about the standards required,” amid a dismal Championship campaign marred by a six-point PSR deduction and poor results.
However, those comments sparked further frustration. Fans reacted angrily after a loss to Portsmouth, chanting: “No way Jon Rudkin is running this club into the ground” and “Get out of the club immediately,” viewing his optimism as out of touch with the reality of back-to-back demotions.
His earlier post-Premier League relegation remarks also drew criticism, with supporters blaming his recruitment decisions and overall management for the club’s slide from 2016 glory to the third tier.
Critics have also pointed to unfulfilled promises of an internal review after last season’s struggles, with Rudkin retaining his role despite what many describe as a “catastrophic” drop only the second time Leicester has fallen into League One.
Chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha’s statement focused on rebuilding and resetting the club, but it made no direct reference to Rudkin. This has led to further questions from fans, many of whom are demanding clarity on his future and the club’s financial direction.
Rudkin’s tenure has coincided with high wages, failed appeals, and ongoing instability, alongside uncertainty surrounding Gary Rowett’s future. All of this has intensified calls for major changes as Leicester prepare for a crucial rebuilding phase ahead of their League One campaign.
