“Worst Performance of the Season?” — Leeds Player Slammed After Disgraceful Performance Against Chelsea

Leeds United fans heading to Wembley on Sunday were confident that Daniel Farke’s side could reach the FA Cup final by beating Chelsea.

Before the game, the form of both teams suggested Leeds had the edge. The Whites were unbeaten in their last five matches, while Chelsea had lost four of their previous five, leading to the sacking of Liam Rosenior.

However, the match did not follow that script. Chelsea, under caretaker boss Calum McFarlane, edged Leeds 1–0 in a tight contest at Wembley.

Enzo Fernandez scored the only goal of the match, marking an impressive performance after recently being left out under the previous manager.

Struijk’s costly error

For Pascal Struijk, it was a moment to forget. His mistake in the 23rd minute led directly to Chelsea’s goal, allowing Fernandez an easy finish.

Struijk looked devastated at full-time, knowing his error played a major role in Leeds missing out on the final. However, he did respond well afterwards, winning five duels while dealing with Joao Pedro.

Despite that recovery, the mistake remained the defining moment of his performance.

Calvert-Lewin struggled more

While Struijk had a poor moment, Dominic Calvert-Lewin arguably had a worse overall game.

Leeds’ poor record at Wembley continued, with four consecutive defeats without scoring. Calvert-Lewin, leading the attack, failed to make an impact.

Although Robert Sanchez made some strong saves, the Leeds striker never looked threatening and missed a big chance in the second half.

Despite scoring 12 goals this season, he has only managed two goals in his last 10 matches across all competitions.

Leeds were in desperate need of a standout performer, but Calvert-Lewin struggled throughout. He won just six of his 18 duels and found it difficult against defenders Tosin Adarabioyo and Trevoh Chalobah.

He finished the match with a low 4/10 rating, managing only 26 touches and losing possession nine times.

What next for Leeds?

Farke will be hoping his striker regains form as Leeds return to league action. It remains to be seen whether he will continue to trust both his struggling centre-forward and his error-prone defender in the next match against Burnley.
