adminNewcastle United are reportedly planning a wide rebuild in attack following the expected €80m sale of Anthony Gordon to Barcelona. Instead of relying on a single direct replacement, the club are targeting multiple wingers who fit Eddie Howe’s high-intensity system.
Among the names linked are Malick Fofana of Lyon, known for his explosive pace and dribbling ability, and Ez Abde of Real Betis, a direct and aggressive winger who thrives in transition.
Both players are seen as strong fits for Newcastle’s pressing style and long-term squad strategy.
Other options under consideration include Matías Fernández-Pardo of Lille, a versatile young forward admired for his technical quality and flexibility across the front line, and Victor Muñoz of Osasuna, viewed as a lower-cost but high-potential signing.
The overall plan at Newcastle is not to find a like-for-like replacement for Gordon, but to bring in two or three attacking additions who can share responsibilities, increase depth, and develop into key starters over time.
Meanwhile, Newcastle United have reportedly entered the race to sign AIK winger Zadock Yohanna, according to Sky Sport in Germany.
The 18-year-old has attracted interest from several top German clubs, including Borussia Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen and RB Leipzig. However, Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion are currently the frontrunners for his signature.
Sky Sport claim Brighton already have an agreement in place with Yohanna that is “100% confirmed”, although negotiations with Swedish side AIK are still ongoing. This situation has opened the door for Newcastle United to make a move, with a final decision expected soon.
Yohanna, an 18-year-old Nigerian winger, joined AIK in 2025 and has already made 18 appearances for the Swedish side, scoring five goals.
His playing style and development pathway have drawn comparisons with Yankuba Minteh, who also moved from West Africa to Scandinavia before being signed by Newcastle in 2023.
Minteh was later loaned to Feyenoord without making a competitive appearance for Newcastle and was eventually sold to Brighton for £33 million.
That deal helped Newcastle comply with Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) in 2024, alongside the sale of Elliot Anderson to Nottingham Forest. However, both decisions have since been debated, as the players’ market values have significantly increased.
