Daka delivered one of his finest performances for Leicester, showing sharp awareness and blistering pace to capitalize on defensive mistakes.
He opened the scoring early after pouncing on a poor back-pass, taking advantage of a slip by Daniel Iversen to finish into an empty net. Leicester looked in control, creating chances through quick attacking play, with Daka pressing aggressively and making intelligent runs.
He nearly added another goal after a clever touch inside the box, but Iversen managed to deny him.
However, Leicester’s momentum collapsed late in the first half. Preston equalized through Andrew Moran after a quick counterattack, and shortly before halftime, Ben Whiteman scored from a corner to give the visitors a 2-1 lead.
In the second half, Leicester dominated possession and created multiple chances, but Iversen produced several key saves to keep Preston ahead. Efforts from Harry Winks and Oliver Skipp were denied, while Leicester continued to apply relentless pressure.
Around the 74th minute, a pivotal moment came when Ben Nelson was introduced as a substitute for Jamaal Lascelles. Fans immediately noticed something was off.
Rated just 4/10, Nelson looked lost and uncertain, failing to steady the defence or contribute to Leicester’s push for a winning goal. Misplaced touches, slow adjustment, and a miscommunication with goalkeeper Jakub Stolarczyk left fans frustrated, as Leicester dropped two crucial points at home.
Despite this, Leicester finally found an equalizer with 10 minutes remaining. A loose ball fell to Daka, who reacted quickly and finished first time, the shot clipping the crossbar.
The Foxes pressed for a winner in the closing minutes, but despite added time and late pressure, they could not find a third goal and had to settle for a draw.
The result leaves Leicester still in the bottom three, with the gap to safety remaining narrow and fans asking themselves, “We can’t keep doing this!”
