Things became even more complicated after a points deduction for breaching financial rules, and their performances have lacked consistency, with too many defeats and a visible drop in confidence across the squad.
Off the pitch, the problems run just as deep. Heavy financial losses, questionable transfer decisions in recent years, and a high wage bill have all combined to put the club under serious pressure.
There’s a growing sense that key players may need to be sold as part of efforts to stabilise things.
At the same time, changes in management and leadership have created uncertainty, making it harder for the team to find clear direction.
Amid all this, former Leicester City player Marc Albrighton shared an emotional reflection on the late owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha a reminder of what the club once was.
“We all say that if we could have a job at any of our former clubs, we’d choose Leicester.”
“We didn’t all grow up supporting Leicester, but we’re massive fans now. We just want to help as much as possible.”
“I did find myself thinking, ‘I wish Leicester had done that,’ even though coaching ربما isn’t for me. I’d love to be driving into Leicester every day, just to be around the place.”
“They’re in a really difficult position at the moment.”
He went on to recall the small moments that defined Vichai’s presence:
“They were simple things that brought everyone together. There were meals arranged by the owner, and he would be there with us.”
“We lost one game and thought we were going home, but he said no we’re still going out.”
“He’d be in the dressing room before every home game, just sitting with the lads, laughing. He had a very distinctive laugh that everyone recognised, and it created such a relaxed atmosphere. He just wanted to see us enjoying ourselves.”
