Farke, who took charge in 2023, successfully guided Leeds back to the Premier League in his second season, breaking records with a dominant Championship campaign. He then ensured top-flight survival with three games remaining in the current season.
Despite this success, the manager says his position is not guaranteed beyond the summer. He explained that the next phase of the club’s project must be clearly defined before he commits further.
“All the boxes we wanted to be ticked are ticked,” Farke said. “It was crucial to steady the ship, reunite the club, and work for the long-term and mid-term future of the club.”
He added that his ambition goes beyond just maintaining the club’s current status.
“I am a manager that plays for something. I want something to play for. I’m not the right choice if it’s about maintaining the status quo. I have to be convinced of the project.”
Farke emphasized that Leeds must avoid repeating past mistakes and continue evolving as a club.
“The truth is we had one good Premier League season in 25 years. This is the second. It is important that we don’t repeat the same mistakes. You have to develop, evolve, and keep going.”
He confirmed that discussions with the club’s ownership will take place soon to determine the next steps.
“My mission is fulfilled. We will sit together and speak about new goals and how we want to achieve them.”
Farke also highlighted the importance of trust between himself and the board, stating that the relationship has been positive since his arrival.
“We have a very trustful relationship with our board. They convinced me to take this job. It’s important to continue honest discussions.”
Looking ahead, he made it clear he wants a clear long-term plan before committing further.
“We have to speak about a three to five-year plan. I won’t continue if I’m not convinced we are heading in the right direction.”
While he did not confirm any decision about leaving, Farke’s comments suggest his future at Leeds United will depend heavily on the outcome of upcoming discussions with the club’s hierarchy.
