JUST IN 🚨 — Russell Martin Confirms Leicester City Have Completed A Major Summer Signing Player Unveiled with Jersey Number

Leicester City are heading into a very busy final stage of the transfer window, with the club still looking to strengthen Russell Martin’s squad before the deadline.

The Foxes have already completed 10 signings this summer, but there is still significant work to be done. The transfer window closes at 11pm on Tuesday, with Leicester also facing Plymouth Argyle on the same day.

Ilari Kangasniemi was the latest player to arrive, but Leicester are still looking for an experienced centre-back and a defensive midfielder. Martin has also left the door open for another striker.

The priority is to improve Leicester’s squad and provide Martin with enough quality to push the team up the League One table.

After the disappointing draw with MK Dons, Leicester remain in the bottom half and need players who can immediately strengthen the team.

Kangasniemi represents a signing for the future, but Leicester would benefit from adding experience to their defence. Harry Souttar and Luke Thomas performed well against MK Dons, although Thomas is naturally a full-back, while Caleb Okoli has struggled defensively.

Several experienced defenders could be available, including Willy Boly and Craig Dawson, while Sheffield United’s Mark McGuinness is another possible option.

There is also the possibility of Martin reuniting with players he has previously worked with.

Emmanuel Fernandez at Rangers is one option, having previously worked under Martin in Scotland. John Souttar is another potential target after being left out of Rangers’ squad this season.

Coventry City’s Joel Latibeaudiere and Luke Woolfenden have also been identified as potential options. Both have fallen down the pecking order following Coventry’s defensive additions.

Latibeaudiere has a previous relationship with Martin from their time together at Swansea City, where he made more than 60 appearances.

Woolfenden would provide further League One experience, having played 128 matches in the division.

Another former Martin player being considered is Hibernian defender Warren O’Hora. Martin worked with O’Hora at MK Dons, initially signing him on loan from Brighton before making the move permanent.

In midfield, Louis Page’s impressive performances have reduced the immediate need for a traditional No.6. The 18-year-old has taken advantage of Oliver Skipp’s suspension and shown that he can contribute at senior level.

However, Leicester still need experience in the position.

Wrexham midfielder George Dobson has emerged as one of the leading options. The 28-year-old has more than 300 appearances at this level and could provide the experience Leicester need.

Matty James is another possibility. At 35, his experience could be particularly valuable to Page as he develops.

Either Dobson or James could potentially replace Hamza Choudhury, whose move to Sheffield United is expected to go through.

Leicester could also return to Wrexham for another attacking option.

Davis Keillor-Dunn has been on Leicester’s radar throughout the summer and could potentially arrive on loan. His opportunities at Wrexham have been limited since joining from Barnsley, where he scored 13 league goals during the first half of last season.

The forward’s aggressive style and ability to cause problems for defenders could give Leicester another dimension in attack.

Outgoings

Leicester could also see several players leave before Tuesday night’s deadline.

Caleb Okoli has reportedly attracted interest from Cagliari, although his recent injury could make a move more difficult.

Harry Souttar has also been linked with an exit throughout the summer. However, Leicester are understood to want around £10 million for the defender, meaning he is likely to remain at the King Power Stadium unless that valuation is met.

Hamza Choudhury is expected to leave for Sheffield United, while further departures could also be required to create space in Martin’s squad.

The potential movement between Leicester and Wrexham could become particularly interesting, given the number of players being discussed between the two clubs.

With Leicester potentially targeting Dobson, James and Keillor-Dunn, there could be more complicated negotiations rather than straightforward individual transfers.

New deals

Once the club completes its remaining transfer business, Leicester will also need to address several contract situations within the squad.

The aim will be to ensure important players remain committed to the club while Martin continues building his team.

First win

Leicester’s deadline day will conclude shortly after their League One fixture against Plymouth Argyle.

After failing to win any of their opening three league games, securing three points has become increasingly important.

Plymouth will provide another difficult test. The Pilgrims lost to Stockport and drew with Wycombe Wanderers before beating Bradford City at the weekend.

A victory would therefore provide the perfect ending to what has already been a busy transfer window.

Leicester have shown against Ipswich and MK Dons that Martin’s ideas are beginning to take shape, but the performances now need to produce results.

A first League One victory combined with the right additions to the squad would completely change the mood around the King Power Stadium heading into September. That would represent the ideal end to Leicester City’s transfer window.
