HEARTBREAK 💔 Rusell Martin Announced Major Devasting Injury News To Leicester City Fans After First Victory

Russell Martin admitted that Leicester City will have to fear the worst with Jakub Stolarczyk’s injury after he was stretchered off inside the opening six minutes against Plymouth on Tuesday night.

The goalkeeper was involved in an incident with Ronan Curtis on the edge of his penalty area inside the first 60 seconds at the King Power Stadium. He stayed down for some time before receiving treatment and was later stretchered off.

Stolarczyk was replaced by Alex McCarthy, who made three important saves as City went on to beat Plymouth. The summer signing is now expected to take over as Leicester’s number one while Stolarczyk is sidelined.

The goalkeeper is expected to have a scan on Wednesday to reveal the extent of his injury. Stolarczyk appeared to injure his right knee in the collision, with the replays offering little encouragement.

Speaking after the win, Martin provided a brief update on the 25-year-old.

“Yeah he’s in a lot of pain,” he said. “He looks [like] a really bad one. So we’ll hope for the best.

“Unfortunately, at the minute, we have to fear the worst. So fingers crossed [that] he feels better tomorrow when we scan it [and] it’s not too bad, but at the minute, it doesn’t look very good.”

He added: “It’s his knee. Unfortunately the harsh reality of football.

“It’s really difficult [to follow game plan] when you’ve done a lot of work with the goalkeeper who’s meant to play and he comes off after a minute. So that changes things.

“I don’t think it’s a minute, is it? It’s 20 seconds or whatever.”
