Leicester City’s financial struggles have intensified, with the club reporting losses of over £71 million in the 12 months up to June 2025. Across a three-year period, including years when the club moved between the Premier League and Championship, total losses now exceed £180 million.

While this is nearly £100 million above permitted losses under Profit and Sustainability (PSR) rules, the club is confident of avoiding breaches when add-backs investments in infrastructure, women’s football, and youth development are considered.

The point deduction already imposed this season for past overspending has left the Foxes under scrutiny, with tensions rising among supporters concerned about the club’s direction.

In a rare public statement, Jon Rudkin, now Leicester City’s chief football officer, addressed fans, warning that recent restructuring would not deliver instant success.

The club has appointed its first-ever sporting director, James McCarron, to oversee recruitment and club philosophy—areas previously handled by Rudkin. Despite the changes, Rudkin remains central to the club’s operations, with McCarron reporting directly to him.

Rudkin said: “Restoring Leicester City to the level we all believe it should represent is a club-wide priority. Re-establishing ourselves as a sustainable and competitive Premier League club will not happen overnight.

It requires careful planning, discipline, and consistency, while remaining agile to respond to immediate challenges. We are committed to building a club our supporters can be proud of, both now and in the years ahead.”

Kevin Davies, promoted from finance director to chief executive, has been praised for guiding the club through this financially challenging period. Chairman Aiyawatt ‘Top’ Srivaddhanaprabha backed both Rudkin and Davies, highlighting their leadership and the club’s commitment to long-term stability.

Davies added: “It’s an honour to become Leicester City’s chief executive. I understand what this club means to the community and the passion of our supporters.

We are focused on ensuring the right structures and leadership are in place to support long-term stability and success. With the backing of King Power, Leicester City will compete sustainably in the Premier League and, over time, challenge for honours.”
