Abdul Fatawu may have already played his final game for Leicester City FC after suffering a serious injury that could rule him out of the last match of the season against Blackburn Rovers.
The winger picked up a bad wound during last Friday’s 1-1 draw with Millwall FC. Jake Cooper made a dangerous, high challenge with his studs on Fatawu’s shin a tackle many felt deserved a red card.
Fatawu required stitches and has not been able to train since the incident. This makes him a major doubt for the trip to Blackburn. If he misses the game, it means his appearance against Millwall could be his last for the club.
The Ghanaian is also expected to leave the King Power Stadium this summer, with Leicester likely to sell him as they look to raise funds following their drop to the third tier.
Manager Gary Rowett confirmed the situation during his press conference:
> “Abdul had stitches after the Millwall game. He had quite a bad wound from the tackle he received from Jake Cooper. He will be a doubt.
He carried on, but that type of injury stiffens up and becomes uncomfortable.
> I’m not sure how many stitches it was, but it was quite a few. He hasn’t been able to train yet. We’ll see if he can train tomorrow. If not, it’s not worth risking him for the last game.”
Rowett also revealed other injury concerns. Jamaal Lascelles and Aaron Ramsey are doubts, while Ben Nelson, Caleb Okoli, and Victor Kristiansen are already ruled out.
Jordan James is also unlikely to start as he continues recovering from a heel injury picked up while on international duty in March.
