However Newcastle United academy goalkeeper Will Anderson has confirmed he will leave the club this summer.
Anderson joined the Magpies’ youth setup in 2021 and has mainly played for the Under-18s. He has also been included on the bench for the Under-21s on several occasions.
The 17-year-old, who turns 18 next month, becomes the fourth goalkeeper to leave Newcastle’s academy following the 2025-26 season. The club had already confirmed the departures of Max Thompson, Adam Harrison, and James Taylor.
Anderson announced his exit in an emotional Instagram message:
“After 5 years at @nufc it is now time for my next chapter. There’s been some unbelievable highs and unfortunate lows but playing for my boyhood club was a dream come true and I couldn’t be any prouder.
While I am gutted to say goodbye, I am now looking forward to what the future holds. Thank you to my teammates, friends and family that have supported me during my Newcastle journey. HWTL 🖤🤍”
Head of academy Steve Harper also paid tribute to the departing players, saying:
“I want to extend my thanks to all the players moving on from the academy this summer. They have all made positive contributions during their time here and are well placed to continue their football journey on the back of the platform they’ve built.
Our support for each of them will continue as they take their next steps. The academy remains a resource for them, and I look forward to seeing where their journeys take them. On behalf of everyone at the football club, we wish them every success for the future.”
