CEO Angus Kinnear has described the club’s position as “happily dissatisfied” with progress under David Moyes, indicating that while there have been signs of improvement, expectations for the project remain higher and further development is required or bw will have to leave.
Everton offered little going forward for much of the contest. Their best chances came late on, with Michael Keane and Charly Alcaraz both going close, while Tyrique George forced a late save from Tottenham goalkeeper Antonín Kinský.
However, these efforts came too late to change the outcome, as Spurs comfortably managed the closing stages.
Everton’s decline in the final weeks of the season has raised fresh questions about the team’s direction under manager David Moyes. A campaign that once hinted at a top-eight challenge ultimately ended in mid-table frustration.
Despite significant investment in the previous summer transfer window and periods of encouraging form earlier in the season, Everton’s consistency faded badly in the run-in.
Throughout the match, Everton struggled to establish any clear attacking structure, with several players guilty of loose passing and poor decision-making in key areas.
The lack of sustained improvement has become a growing concern for supporters, particularly given the expectations surrounding the club’s long-term project under The Friedkin Group.
While the club hierarchy has maintained its backing of stability and gradual progress, the late-season collapse has led to renewed scrutiny over whether the team is moving in the right direction.
Everton finish the season with 15 league defeats, level on position and only marginally improved on last year’s points total. Despite heavy investment and moments of promise, the campaign ends with more questions than answers.
