AGREEMENT REACHED! Newcastle United Secure Personal Terms With £30million Superstar Ahead of St James’ Park Move for Experienced Attacking Midfielder

Newcastle United are set to announce their sixth summer signing within the next 24 hours, with Bosnia and Herzegovina international Amar Dedic closing in on his £30million move from Portuguese giants Benfica.

The 23-year-old arrived on Tyneside on Sunday night and began undergoing his medical on Monday ahead of completing the formalities of his transfer.

Dedic is expected to sign a five-year contract with Newcastle, reuniting with Matthias Jaissle, who previously worked with the defender at RB Salzburg and FC Liefering.

His arrival comes at an important time for Newcastle, with the club currently without a recognised senior right-back. Kieran Trippier and Emil Krafth left at the end of their contracts in June, while Tino Livramento is sidelined with a calf injury.

Dedic could therefore be in contention to make his Newcastle debut in Sunday’s Premier League opener against Liverpool at St James’ Park, with youngsters Mason Miley and Leo Shahar currently providing the other options at right-back.

But while Dedic’s arrival strengthens Jaissle’s defensive options, Newcastle are also continuing their efforts to add more attacking quality before the transfer window closes.

Newcastle United eye £30million attacking star

One of the names attracting Newcastle’s attention is former Chelsea attacking midfielder Christopher Nkunku.

RB Leipzig are currently leading the race to sign the 28-year-old from AC Milan, according to Italian journalist Matteo Moretto, but Newcastle remain interested in the Frenchman.

Nkunku only moved to the San Siro last summer but has reportedly been told he can leave by new boss Ruben Amorim.

The forward spent four years at Leipzig before joining Chelsea for £52million in 2023 and is now reportedly valued at around £30million.

Newcastle’s interest could give them another route to strengthening their attack, although Nkunku is currently said to prefer a return to Germany.

“Leipzig is the club calling with the most consistency,” Moretto said on YouTube. “Newcastle is there, even if the player would today prefer to eventually return home for consistent playing time and performance. In short, he is a player with a lot of market interest.”

With Dedic’s move nearing completion and Newcastle continuing to explore attacking reinforcements, Jaissle’s squad could undergo further changes before the transfer window shuts.
