Newcastle United supporters may have to wait a little longer to see one of the club’s big-name players back at St James’ Park.
The forward’s situation had been the subject of some uncertainty, particularly after Newcastle’s latest squad decisions left questions over where he would fit into Matthias Jaissle’s plans.
There was always the possibility that his situation could change during the season, but the latest update from the Newcastle head coach has now provided some much-needed clarity.
Rather than returning to Tyneside and competing for a place in the squad, the player will spend the campaign continuing his development elsewhere.
It is a decision that could prove important for both the player and Newcastle in the long run.
Jaissle has made it clear that the club is still keeping a close eye on his progress, suggesting that the current arrangement should not necessarily be viewed as the end of his Newcastle career.
The reason for his absence is, however, now clear.
Newcastle agreed to send the player out on loan, giving him the opportunity to get regular first-team football and continue developing away from the intense competition for places at St James’ Park.

And the player at the centre of the situation is Nick Woltemade.
Woltemade has joined Juventus on a season-long loan, with the agreement running until June 2027. That means Newcastle supporters will not see the forward return to the club’s first-team squad during the 2026/27 campaign unless the terms of the deal are unexpectedly changed.
The move represents an interesting next step for the Germany international, particularly after the expectations that surrounded his arrival at Newcastle.
The club invested heavily in Woltemade and clearly saw significant potential in the forward. However, regular opportunities have not always been straightforward to secure, making a temporary move an attractive option.
Juventus now provides him with the chance to play at another elite European club and gain valuable experience.
For Jaissle, the important thing is that Woltemade continues to develop.
The Newcastle boss has backed the forward and indicated that the club will continue monitoring his performances while he is in Italy. A productive loan spell could therefore have a major influence on what happens when Woltemade eventually returns to Tyneside.
If he can establish himself at Juventus, score regularly and show the qualities that convinced Newcastle to sign him, he could come back next summer in a much stronger position.
For now, though, his Newcastle chapter is temporarily on hold.
Jaissle’s latest comments make that clear: Nick Woltemade will not play for Newcastle again this season.
The focus now shifts to Turin — and whether his time at Juventus can help him return to Newcastle ready to make a bigger impact.
