Russell Martin has come under increasing pressure at Leicester City after his side were thumped 4-0 at home by Oxford United, with Rangers fans wasting no time reminding the former Ibrox boss’ new supporters of their previous warnings.
The defeat leaves Leicester 17th in League One with just five points from five matches and one win, following their relegation from the Championship last season.
Martin’s team were comfortably beaten by an Oxford side bossed by former Rangers loan star Aaron Ramsey, with the result prompting worried Leicester supporters to question whether the club could be heading towards a second successive relegation if the manager is not removed.
Martin himself admitted his side had been “naive and soft” and said the players lacked the experience required to make the right decisions during the collapse.

“It’s painful, really painful,” he said. “Today, we look like a team that’s the opposite of what we have looked like.
“We’re so together, so aggressive and ready to fight for each other. And today, for that 25-minute spell in the second half, is unacceptable.
“We started so poorly because it’s such a poor goal. And then we were really in the game. I think we were really on top in the first half. But the start comes because we don’t fight enough and come out without the ball too many times. We were really soft.
“We had five kick-offs today and three of them ended up with a chance on our goal, which is crazy. I think it shows the lack of experience we have on the pitch and decision-making at times.
“Then we’re chasing the game and we get caught in transition repeatedly against a team that are good at it. I made a couple of subs and took some experienced guys off to try and inject some energy in the game.
“But the learning is, I think the team is too young and too inexperienced at the end. We were naive and too soft.”
Rangers fans remind Leicester of their warnings
Martin’s struggles at Leicester have given Rangers supporters an opportunity to revisit their own experience of his management style.
Rangers fans saw first-hand how quickly things could go wrong under Martin, and several were quick to tell Leicester supporters that they had already warned them about what could happen.
One posted: “We did warn you. Do anything you can to get him sacked now before it’s too late & you end up in League Two.”
Another added: “Countless warnings You’ll be in League Two soon enough if you don’t take action.”
Others pointed towards Martin’s wider managerial record and questioned Leicester’s decision to appoint him.
“Genuinely, what are you doing? Southampton, Swansea and certainly Rangers fans can’t stand the useless blagger. Maybe the MK Dons fans still like him but that’s his level, if he’s lucky. You are Leicester though.”
Another Rangers supporter simply repeated the warning: “We told you lot! The man is an absolute fraud. How he gets jobs is beyond me, he just do a brilliant interview that’s for sure!!!”
And another added: “As a Rangers fan, it will only get worse. Sack him now while you can.”
Loch Lomond jokes return
The reaction also revived memories of Martin’s infamous team-bonding sessions during his time at Rangers, including trips to Loch Lomond.
With Leicester now struggling, Rangers fans couldn’t resist suggesting that Martin could be preparing another bonding exercise for his new squad.
One joked: “Get the goggles out lads, you’re off to Loch Lomond on Monday morning.”
Another added: “Good energy though. After a trip to a local lake for team bonding you’ll not look back.”
For Martin, however, the immediate concern is Leicester’s position in League One. After five games, the Foxes have only one victory, and Saturday’s 4-0 defeat has intensified questions over whether his approach can deliver the results required to prevent the club’s decline from continuing.
