BOMBSHELL: Newcastle Respond After Reports Claim Arsenal Have COMPLETED £80M Bruno Guimarães Deal!

Newcastle respond to reports that Arsenal have finalized the £80 million signing of Bruno Guimaraes

Sources at Newcastle United have downplayed recent claims that Arsenal have completed an £80 million deal for Bruno Guimaraes.

Arsenal are keen to sign Guimaraes from Newcastle during the summer transfer window and have already seen several bids for the Brazilian midfielder rejected.

Guimaraes is also believed to be interested in a move to Arsenal and has reportedly agreed personal terms with the Premier League champions.

On July 31, reports claimed that Arsenal had scheduled a medical for Guimaraes, suggesting that an agreement between the Gunners and Newcastle was already in place.

However, Newcastle have consistently maintained that Guimaraes is not for sale this summer.

A recent report from ESPN claims that Arsenal are set to pay Newcastle a total of £80 million for the Brazilian midfielder.

According to the report, Arsenal completed the signing of Guimaraes on Friday night in a deal worth £80 million.

The Gunners, who reached the Champions League final last season, are expected to pay an initial £70 million, with a further £10 million in performance-related add-ons.

ESPN also reported that Guimaraes is expected to sign a long-term contract with the London club this weekend.

Newcastle deny any agreement with Arsenal over Bruno Guimaraes

However, local reports in Newcastle have denied that any agreement has been reached with Arsenal for the transfer of the 28-year-old.

Lee Ryder, Chief Newcastle United writer for The Chronicle, reported that any final decision on Guimaraes’ future will only be made after discussions with the club’s incoming head coach, Matthias Jaissle.

Posting on X at 1:48 p.m. on August 1, Ryder wrote:

«”New claims of an £80.4 million agreement regarding Bruno Guimaraes and #Arsenal.»

«There has been no change regarding Bruno, with no official approach from the Gunners.»

«With a new head coach appointed, he is expected to have a conversation with Bruno, as previously reported by @ChronicleNUFC.”»
