According to reports from Viola News, Newcastle have joined Nottingham Forest in expressing interest in the Fiorentina full-back as Eddie Howe continues to assess his defensive options ahead of the new campaign. The defender is entering the final year of his contract, leaving Fiorentina under pressure to cash in this summer rather than risk losing him for nothing in 2027.
The Italian club are believed to value the player at around €15-20 million, a fee that has alerted several clubs across Europe. Newcastle are understood to have made initial enquiries, while Nottingham Forest are also monitoring the situation closely as they look to strengthen their own squad. Forest could even have a slight advantage due to their positive relationship with Fiorentina following previous transfer dealings between the two clubs.
For Newcastle, the interest makes sense. Eddie Howe has been determined to improve competition across every position following an ambitious summer recruitment drive. While the Magpies already possess quality on the right side of defence, adding another proven performer with European experience could provide valuable depth as the club prepares for another demanding campaign across multiple competitions.
The Brazilian has built a strong reputation during his time in Florence since arriving from Shakhtar Donetsk in 2022. Although Fiorentina endured an inconsistent 2025/26 season, the defender remained a regular starter, making 36 Serie A appearances and continuing to attract attention from clubs both in Italy and abroad. His pace, attacking runs and ability to contribute in possession have made him one of the league’s more reliable full-backs over the past few seasons.
Interest is not limited to England either. Reports suggest Inter Milan, Juventus and Napoli have all explored the possibility of signing the defender, although none have progressed to an agreement. That has opened the door for Premier League clubs to make their move, with Newcastle and Nottingham Forest now emerging as serious contenders.
Whether Newcastle decide to submit an official bid remains to be seen, but the relatively modest asking price makes this a transfer worth watching.
