That conflicting information has left supporters waiting for further clarification over whether the deal is genuine or simply early transfer speculation.
One thing is certain: Newcastle remain active in the transfer market and are exploring several goalkeeper options as they prepare for another demanding campaign. Whether this particular pursuit develops into a completed transfer may depend on whether the Magpies are prepared to increase their offer closer to the Bundesliga club’s asking price.
