JUST IN: Newcastle Are Closing In on Another Elite Young Talent – Even Real Madrid Couldn’t Ignore Him

Newcastle United have held fresh internal talks over Johan Manzambi, with key figures at the club eager to follow up the arrival of Bazoumana Toure with another exciting signing.

Reports suggest an optimistic “more to come” message has been circulating within the walls of St James’ Park as Newcastle look to reinvest the money received from Sandro Tonali’s departure.

Both sporting director Ross Wilson and CEO David Hopkinson are working hard behind the scenes to strengthen Eddie Howe’s squad, with the club’s focus shifting from player sales to new arrivals in recent days.

Newcastle have taken a cautious approach over Manzambi, with SC Freiburg believed to be demanding a fee higher than the Magpies are currently willing to pay for an individual player. However, Howe is understood to be a huge admirer of the Swiss youngster and is pleased that the club remain actively involved in the race for his signature.

Manzambi and goalkeeper James Trafford are understood to be among Newcastle’s top transfer priorities, with the Magpies hoping to complete a third signing this week following Toure’s arrival.

The talented midfielder also fits Newcastle’s recruitment strategy perfectly, with the club continuing to target young players who can develop into elite talents while helping the club comply with UEFA’s Squad Cost Ratio (SCR) regulations.
