Newcastle United Refuse to Slow Down as Eddie Howe Targets Elite Goalscorer with Attractive Contract Offer

Newcastle United have reportedly made an offer to sign World-class Striker as he prepares to leave the Serie A giants in the coming weeks.

The Magpies are expected to have a busy summer transfer window and, although manager Eddie Howe recently suggested signing a striker is not currently a priority, the club has still been linked with several forwards.

Speaking last month about his attacking options, Howe said:

“Certainly not at the moment because in terms of striker numbers, we’ve got healthy numbers in that position. It’s been a challenge for us trying to find the right balance, trying to find a way to continually score goals and create the amount of chances that we want to. I don’t think we’re quite there yet. I think we’ve got work to do in that area.

“Obviously, Yoane’s had fitness struggles. Will Osula has really grown and flourished late into the season and I think he’s done really well in recent games. Anthony Gordon has played there, Nick has played there and done well earlier in the season. I think the players are there; we’ve just got to try and bring it together and make it work.”

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Newcastle are interested in the Serbia international, and the report claims Vlahovic’s agent and father have listened to a proposal from the Magpies.

However, Newcastle face strong competition for the striker’s signature. The report states that Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Barcelona have also submitted offers as Vlahovic enters the final weeks of his current contract with Juventus.

Juventus are reportedly preparing one final attempt to persuade the striker to sign a new deal. However, the club is said to be pessimistic about reaching an agreement, with their offer capped at €6 million plus bonuses.

The situation comes shortly after Juventus director Giorgio Chiellini appeared to confirm Vlahovic’s departure and suggested the striker is likely to continue his career outside Italy.

Speaking to Football Italia, Chiellini said:

“I am very sad. He cared about Juve right up to the last minute. He is a serious professional. With these figures, he won’t remain in Italy, so it is only fair and legitimate that he is seeking a different type of salary.”

The report also claims Juventus have shifted their attention towards Paris Saint-Germain forward Randal Kolo Muani. The France international spent the second half of the 2024/25 season on loan at Juventus, where he impressed by scoring 10 goals in 22 appearances.

Kolo Muani also enjoyed a productive loan spell with Tottenham Hotspur last season, registering five goals and four assists, and is now being considered as a potential replacement should Vlahovic complete his expected exit from Turin.
