adminLeicester City’s failed appeal against a six-point deduction means their Championship survival now depends entirely on their on-field performances. Former Crystal Palace chairman and pundit Simon Jordan believes there is little to suggest the Foxes can escape the bottom three.
The six-point sanction has left Leicester City 22nd in the table with just five games remaining. Even if the points were restored, they would only rise to 19th a position Jordan described as “pretty abject” for a club that was relegated from the Premier League last season.
“Looking at the performances, irrespective of the six points, it’s been very poor,” Jordan told talkSPORT. “Even with the points restored, they’d still only be 19th. You have to ask what has gone wrong here.”
Jordan highlighted that Leicester have earned just nine points from their last nine matches under manager Gary Rowett, which offers little hope of a turnaround. He stressed that the problems run deeper than management. “With 47 points from 41 games, you’re not a good side. They’ve changed managers, so it’s not just a managerial issue—it shows there are fundamental problems with the team and ownership.”
The upcoming fixtures provide little comfort. Leicester face Swansea before a critical clash against Portsmouth, who have a game in hand.
Jordan warned that even a win against Portsmouth would still leave Leicester needing strong results in subsequent matches against Hull, Millwall, and Blackburn none of which are straightforward.
“You needed to perform on the pitch regardless of the appeal, and there’s no evidence they can,” Jordan said. “Gary Rowett is a sensible manager, but if you can’t beat Sheffield Wednesday, who can you beat?”
The pressure is now mounting, and fans are left wondering if Leicester can defy the odds. The next few games will be crucial, with the team’s survival hanging by a thread.
