Tottenham have now appointed Roberto De Zerbi on a five-year deal, which many people see as a risky decision. This also means they have already sacked two permanent managers in just one season.
Leicester City, on the other hand, have been a bit more careful (partly because of restrictions). They have only parted ways with one manager this season, even though they have used different coaching setups. Like Tottenham, they have also relied on temporary managers at times.
While De Zerbi arrives with big expectations and possible huge rewards if he keeps Tottenham up, Leicester are still struggling under Gary Rowett. The team has become more defensive, but their games are often dull and lack excitement.
Things are very serious for Tottenham. After the poor results under Igor Tudor, they are now in real danger of relegation to the Championship — something that once seemed impossible. De Zerbi’s job is to fix that quickly.
At Leicester, the situation is different but still worrying. Rowett has made the defence stronger and more organised. However, this has come at a cost. The team is struggling to score goals, and matches often end without much attacking threat. Goals have become very hard to find for Leicester.
Looking at how the club has acted before, if Leicester lose badly to Preston North End without scoring, Rowett could lose his job. Still, sacking him now could be a big mistake.
This does not mean the previous manager was better, or that better coaches are not available. It simply means Leicester do not have time to keep changing managers.
If they make another big change now, it could bring the same chaos Tottenham are currently facing. But if Rowett can find a way to add even one or two goals per game, Leicester City still have a real chance to survive.
