Despite the losses exceeding the £83 million limit set under Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), the club remains confident of avoiding further breaches once add-backs such as investment in infrastructure, women’s football, and youth development are considered. However, the scale of the losses is expected to come under close scrutiny.
In response to the growing tension, Jon Rudkin addressed supporters in a rare statement, outlining what they should expect from the board moving forward. He stressed that while changes are underway, immediate results should not be expected.
Leicester have restructured their leadership, appointing James McCarron as the club’s first sporting director. He will oversee recruitment and club philosophy, while Rudkin steps into a new role as chief football officer, maintaining a key position within the club’s hierarchy.
Rudkin made it clear that the focus is on long-term stability rather than quick fixes. “Restoring Leicester City to the level we all believe it should represent is a club-wide priority,” he said.
“Re-establishing ourselves as a sustainable and competitive Premier League club will not happen overnight. It requires planning, discipline, and consistency.”
Further changes have seen Kevin Davies promoted to chief executive, replacing Susan Whelan. The club’s ownership, led by Aiyawatt ‘Top’ Srivaddhanaprabha, has backed the new structure, emphasizing a commitment to stability and future growth.
Davies also reassured supporters, stating that the club is focused on building a sustainable foundation that can support long-term success and eventually return Leicester City to the Premier League.
With financial pressure mounting and expectations rising, the club’s leadership has made it clear that patience will be required as they work to rebuild and guide Leicester City back to where it belongs.
