Newcastle United are preparing an opening bid for Real Betis winger Abde Ezzalzouli, having remained in regular contact over a potential transfer.

Ezzalzouli primarily plays on the left wing, a position Newcastle have already strengthened this summer with the signing of Bazoumana Toure from TSG Hoffenheim.

However, the Betis forward remains an attractive option for Eddie Howe due to his impressive performances in La Liga last season.

The Moroccan international registered 10 goals and 9 assists in 29 league appearances during the 2025/26 campaign.

Described as “extraordinary” by former Barcelona manager Xavi, Ezzalzouli also contributed seven goal involvements in 12 Europa League matches before Real Betis were eliminated by Braga in the quarter-finals.

While Toure recorded 12 Bundesliga assists last season and appears to offer greater creative output, Ezzalzouli’s superior goalscoring record suggests he could provide Newcastle with a different attacking threat.

Newcastle preparing offer

According to TEAMtalk, Newcastle are now preparing an offer after holding regular talks over a deal.

Real Betis are reportedly willing to consider offers of around €50 million (£43 million) for the 24-year-old this summer, making him slightly more expensive than Toure, who joined for around £42 million.

Following Anthony Gordon’s move to Barcelona earlier this summer, Newcastle remain determined to strengthen the left wing. Ezzalzouli can also operate on the right, adding further versatility to Howe’s attacking options.

Former Como scout Ben Mattinson has previously praised the winger’s exceptional dribbling ability.

Despite their interest in Ezzalzouli, Newcastle may still prioritize signing a central midfielder, with Bruno Guimarães’ future uncertain amid reported interest from Arsenal.

The Magpies are also said to be ready to make a move for Inter Milan midfielder Petar Sučić, who impressed in his debut season in Italy, making 54 appearances and helping Inter win the Serie A title.
