EXCLUSIVE – Leicester City Received £30millions In A Major Financial Boost

Leicester City’s 2025-26 Championship season has been a struggle. Sitting 22nd with 39 points after a six-point deduction for breaching Profit and Sustainability Rules, the Foxes are in a desperate relegation fight.

Recent results including a 1-3 home defeat to QPR and a goalless draw at Watford have exposed defensive weaknesses and inconsistency.

Managerial changes haven’t helped: Martí Cifuentes was sacked in January, followed by a caretaker spell before Gary Rowett took over in February.

Off the pitch, Leicester have received a £30m financial boost from transfer-related funds and instalments, easing debt pressures and giving room for squad reinforcements.

But money alone won’t fix their on-field issues. The team has struggled with mentality, defending, and cohesion.

With only a few games left, every point counts, and Rowett’s experience will be tested as the Foxes fight to avoid a second successive relegation.

The £30 million financial injection was due to the permanent transfer of Bilal El Khannouss to VfB Stuttgart. The Morocco international had spent last season on loan at the club but was unable to make a lasting impact.

His departure now brings much-needed funds to help Leicester invest in players who can make an immediate difference in their push for promotion.

El Khannouss arrived at Leicester with high expectations, known for his skill, strength, and mental toughness. Despite showing flashes of quality, he couldn’t consistently influence results, and Leicester ultimately fell short in their Premier League campaign.

Stuttgart have now made his move permanent by activating the buyout clause, giving the player a fresh start in Germany while Leicester benefit financially from the deal.

The club can now focus fully on the Championship campaign, using the money to strengthen the squad and support their manager’s plan to return to the top flight.

Both Leicester and El Khannouss are moving forward, with the club hopeful that new signings and a clear strategy will keep their promotion dreams alive.
