🚨 JUST IN: Newcastle United SCRAMBLE to Complete LATE Deadline-Day Deal as Jaissle Gives Green Light for SHOCK Exit!

Newcastle United left it late on deadline day, but the club eventually managed to complete one more important piece of business before the transfer window closed.

While much of the attention around St James’ Park was focused on the arrival of Matias Fernandez-Pardo and the departure of Nick Woltemade, Newcastle were also working behind the scenes to find the right opportunity for one of their promising young forwards.

That deal eventually came together late on Tuesday, with the teenager completing a season-long loan move to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The player in question is Sean Neave, the highly-rated Newcastle academy graduate who has now taken the next step in his development by moving to the Championship.

Neave joined Newcastle’s academy at the age of 13 and has progressed through the club’s youth system before earning opportunities around the first team. He signed his professional contract in 2024 and was included in the squad that lifted the Carabao Cup at Wembley.

The 19-year-old made his senior Newcastle debut during the 2025/26 campaign, coming off the bench during the club’s Champions League victory over Qarabag. He later made his Premier League debut on the final day of the season against Fulham.

However, with Newcastle’s squad becoming increasingly competitive under new head coach Matthias Jaissle, regular first-team opportunities were always going to be difficult to guarantee.

That made a temporary move particularly attractive.

Neave had already attracted interest from several clubs, but Wolves eventually emerged as the destination, with the deal being pushed through towards the end of deadline day.

The move also suits Newcastle’s wider development strategy. Rather than allowing the youngster to spend another season primarily playing youth football, the club can now watch him compete regularly in senior football at a demanding level.

Wolves are currently competing in the Championship and believe Neave can provide another attacking option for manager Cesar Peixoto.

Wolves technical director Matt Jackson revealed that discussions with Newcastle and the player’s representatives began early on deadline day, with both clubs working quickly to get the agreement completed.

He also highlighted Neave’s work ethic, technical ability and hunger to establish himself as a professional footballer.

For Neave, the move represents an opportunity to prove that he can handle the physical and competitive demands of senior football on a consistent basis.

There will be competition for places at Molineux, with Wolves boasting experienced forwards including former Newcastle striker Adam Armstrong and Raul Jimenez. But the club believe Neave can learn from those players while also pushing for meaningful minutes.

Importantly for Newcastle, this is not simply an exit. The Magpies still see considerable potential in the teenager and will be monitoring his progress closely throughout the season.

The decision also reflects Jaissle’s approach to squad development. The new Newcastle boss was keen for Neave to get the right environment to continue his development, and the late agreement allowed that plan to be put into action.

Neave will now spend the 2026/27 season at Wolves with the chance to gain valuable Championship experience before returning to Newcastle.

After a frantic deadline day involving major arrivals, departures and several late decisions, the Magpies eventually got the young striker’s move over the line.

And for a player who has already tasted Champions League and Premier League football at such a young age, the next few months could prove crucial in determining just how quickly he can establish himself at St James’ Park.
