Newcastle United could be preparing another major move in the transfer market, with reports claiming the Magpies are ready to enter the race for an in-demand Manchester City forward who could be available this summer.
According to transfer reporter Ekrem Konur, Newcastle are interested in the Egyptian international and could be prepared to spend around £50 million to bring him to St James’ Park. The player in question is Omar Marmoush, who has emerged as a potential target as Newcastle continue to reshape their attacking options.

Marmoush joined Manchester City from Eintracht Frankfurt in January 2025, signing a four-and-a-half-year contract that was initially expected to keep him at the Etihad Stadium until the summer of 2029.
However, his position at City has reportedly become less certain, with competition for places and changes within the squad potentially opening the door for a summer departure. Recent reports have suggested Newcastle have already held talks over a possible move, with Marmoush being considered as a potential attacking reinforcement following significant changes to the Magpies’ squad.
A move for Marmoush would represent a significant statement from Newcastle. The 27-year-old is capable of operating across the forward line and has previously demonstrated his ability to contribute both goals and assists. His versatility could make him particularly attractive to Newcastle as they look to add more quality and depth in the final third.
Newcastle have already invested heavily in attacking talent, but the club’s current transfer strategy could require further additions following the departures of key players. The Magpies are therefore expected to remain active in the market, particularly if another opportunity to sign an established Premier League forward becomes available.
Reports have placed Marmoush’s potential price tag in the region of £50 million, although it remains unclear whether Manchester City would accept such a figure or whether negotiations would demand a higher fee. Other clubs could also enter the race if City make it clear that the Egyptian is available.
For Newcastle, the attraction is obvious. Marmoush already understands the demands of English football, possesses considerable international experience and could provide another dangerous attacking option.
At this stage, however, the transfer should be treated as a developing rumour rather than a completed deal. There is no indication that Newcastle have reached an agreement with Manchester City or Marmoush.
Nevertheless, with the summer window approaching its decisive stages, Newcastle’s reported interest could become one of the more intriguing transfer stories to watch. A £50 million move for the Egyptian forward would certainly underline the club’s ambition to rebuild their attack and bring another high-profile name to Tyneside.
