🚨BREAKING: Newcastle United close in on first outfield signing of the Matthais Jaissle era…

Newcastle United are closing in on what could become their first outfield signing under incoming manager Matthias Jaissle, with Feyenoord winger Anis Hadj Moussa emerging as a leading transfer target.

The former Al-Ahli boss is expected to arrive on Tyneside soon and is widely anticipated to be confirmed as Eddie Howe’s successor following Howe’s departure last week. Even before officially taking charge, Jaissle is believed to have identified Hadj Moussa as one of his priority signings.

Newcastle are hoping to sign a player whom Jaissle has admired for some time. The German coach reportedly attempted to bring the Algerian international to Al-Ahli during his spell in Saudi Arabia, but a move failed to materialise.

Supporters have been left frustrated after seeing several key players depart over the past year. Alexander Isak, Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali have all completed big-money moves away from St James’ Park, while captain Bruno Guimarães continues to be linked with a possible exit.

Reports claim Newcastle have already rejected Arsenal’s opening bid for the Brazilian midfielder, although speculation surrounding his future remains ongoing.

With several key departures to replace, Newcastle are eager to strengthen the squad and provide Jaissle with the best possible start to his reign.

According to reports, Hadj Moussa has now emerged as a serious target. The 24-year-old winger, who primarily operates on the right flank, has established himself as a regular starter for Feyenoord since joining the Dutch club from Belgian side Patro Eisden.

The Algerian is also believed to have attracted interest from a number of Premier League clubs in recent years, including Liverpool, Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea. However, reports from Dutch journalist Dennis Kranenburg suggest Newcastle are now pushing hardest for his signature and reportedly view him as a possible replacement for Anthony Gordon.

Although his numbers may not be among Europe’s elite, Hadj Moussa has produced a respectable return of 25 goals and 12 assists in 83 appearances across all competitions for Feyenoord. Beyond the statistics, he has earned praise for his technical ability, creativity and consistency, often standing out despite the team’s mixed performances.

One of his most memorable displays came against Manchester City in the 2024/25 UEFA Champions League, where he impressed with his direct running and confidence in possession. At just 24 years of age, Hadj Moussa is still viewed as a player with significant room for development.

Should Newcastle complete the deal, the Algerian winger could become one of the first key additions of the Matthias Jaissle era as the Magpies look to rebuild their squad ahead of the new season.
